Police have arrested a teenager on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving today, according to the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, with the victim killed after attending Westfest at Bath and West showground this weekend.
The 18 year old suspect, from Gloucestershire, could face up to 14 years in jail if prosecuted.
At the scene of the crime, friends and family have left tributes to the 28 year old victim from Dorset, who was found dead near the Cannards Well pub, Shepton Mallet, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Organisers of the festival, Slammin Vinyl, have insisted that safety advice was issued prior to the event via text.
“In the fourteen years that Westfest has been held this is the first serious traffic accident,” a Slammin Vinyl statement read.
“At this stage we don’t know anything further to the information the police have released but will be assisting them with their investigation in any way we can.”
We await further details.
